The 11th International Recycling, Environmental Technologies and Waste Management Fair REW Istanbul, once again brought the continents together in Istanbul!
Alongside the 11th REW Istanbul Fair where technologies shaping the future of environmental sustainability were on display, was the first edition of ISG Eurasia, the occupational health and safety fair.
REW Istanbul 2015, organized by IFO Fuarcılık for the 11th time and with support from the Turkish Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, took place in conjunction with ISG Eurasia, the Occupational Health and Safety Fair attracting 322 exhibiting companies from 22 different countries. 10,582 professionals from a total of 49 countries attended the event during three days and such was the positive feedback from the show floor, many exhibitors have already rebooked for the next show. The percentage of overseas visitors was an impressive 8% with keen interest coming from Bulgaria, Greece, Hungary and Iran, highlighting the growing awareness of the need for those technologies in these emerging economies.
More specifically professionals from the major industrial cities were well represented at the fair which saw increased numbers over previous editions. With a high number of visitors from industrial cities such as Istanbul, Kocaeli as well as Tekirdag, Ankara, Bursa and Izmir, REW Istanbul 2015 proved to be the most important meeting of the environmental technologies sector in Eurasia as sustainable growth becomes a primary issue.
The 11th edition of REW Istanbul, an international fair for Recycling, Environmental Technologies and Waste Management, took place from 11th-13th of June 2015. Many different innovations including waste collection trucks, environment-friendly cleaning vehicles, recycling and recovery technologies and waste water treatment were displayed in the fair.
Recycling associations join forces at REW Istanbul 2015.
The associations operating in the field of waste management in Turkey took a major step forward towards structuring the future direction and coordination of the sector at REW Istanbul. AGED (Association of Waste Paper Recyclers), IGEDDER (Recyclers Association of Istanbul), OTASAD (Association of Expired Vehicle Industrialists) and TUDAM (Associations of Recyclable Waste Materials Industrialists) merged under a common platform. The signing ceremony for the formation of a new organization named TAYDEP (Platform of All Waste Management Associations) took place at REW Istanbul, an appropriate setting given its position as the biggest environment technologies fair in Eurasia.
“WASTE TICKET” application was also used this year!
At REW Istanbul, the “Waste Ticket” application, which was first launched successfully last year, was used again this year. This application aims at drawing attention to the goal of “zero waste through sorting at source” and saw used batteries, glasses, plastic or paper waste brought by the visitors and accepted as an admission ticket of the fair.
The Fair conference program provides guidance to direct the sector.
REW Istanbul 2015 also hosted a set of conferences which help set the agenda of the sector for future years. The wide scope of the conference program which lasted three days, saw sessions focused on “Disinfectants Used in the Industry and their Environmental Impacts”, “Training on Awareness in Workplaces Before, During and After Disaster”, “Waste Management, Legislation, Problems encountered in Practice”, “Potable Water Disinfection Methods”, “Recycling of Medical Wastes”, “Disposal of Expired Rubbers” and “OHS Culture and Training”.
ISG Eurasia Fair co-located with REW Istanbul 2015
IFO Fuarcılık focused on the important issue of “Occupational Health and Safety” which was presented as a special section at REW Istanbul last year. Launched as a separate fair but co-located with REW Istanbul 2015, ISG Eurasia 2015 was organized in the neighbouring halls. With input from TIGIAD (Occupational Health and Businessmen Association of Turkey) and the Izmir Chamber of Commerce, solutions were demonstrated for technical equipment and materials required by employers who are responsible for occupational health and safety, risk analysis and specialized services.
The next edition of REW Istanbul which is recognized by the international community as the region’s most important trade fair in its field, will be held in Tüyap Beylikdüzü Fair and Congress Center in April 2016.
